Beware of Deception

March 19, 2017 Speaker: Ryan Johnston Series: Disciple: The Gospel of Mark

Topic: Deception Passage: Mark 9:30–9:41

Is it possible in the Christian life to get foundational principles of the Gospel wrong because we're deceived? This week Ryan Johnston teaches from Mark 9:30 through 41, a passage in which Jesus tells of his own death and resurrection while his disciples were arguing about who among them was the greatest. Jesus' response shows us three things: 1) Our need for redemption, 2) Our posture for life must be as a servant, and 3) The power for mission. Jesus shows us that we are to serve others and that only by serving in Jesus' name - and not for our own position and glory - are we truly living according to Christ's teaching. Christ, the object of our faith, is what saves us - not faith itself.
