Prepare the Way For the Savior

September 13, 2015 Speaker: Ryan Johnston Series: Gospel of Mark

Topic: Kingdom Passage: Mark 1:1–1:8

This week begins the new series on the Gospel of Mark. Ryan Johnston begins with an overview of Mark’s Gospel message and his book written to the Romans - a decidedly non-Jewish audience who needed very specific, practical guidelines on how to live for Jesus. Mark proclaims the good news of Jesus in the very first verses and then teaches how to live in a way that honors Christ, and that the savior Jesus is coming. Mark links Old Testament prophets with the current day’s events, including the preparation of the way of the Lord by John the Baptist. As we study the book of Mark we must come to that point where we don’t try to make the Gospel conform to our life - but our life conforms to the good news of Jesus.
