Anointed and Tempted
Topic: Sin and Tempation Passage: Mark 1:9–1:13
Dan Clancy continues the study in the Gospel of Mark, focusing on chapter 1 verses 9 through 13. In this passage Jesus sees heaven open before him when he is baptized, then the Spirit of God descends on him and God the Father proclaims that Jesus is his Son. Yet immediately after Jesus is taken to the wilderness to be tempted by Satan in three ways and attempts to get Jesus to question his trust in God. What Jesus demonstrates is that we CAN trust in God and that Satan - and sin - can't tell us what to do. You see, with temptation there is always more at stake that what we think - specifically your future, your family and your faith. But Christ not only came to pay for your sins but to set you free. Will you accept that freedom today?
