The Posture of the Believer

April 30, 2017 Speaker: James Talbert Series: Gospel of Mark

Topic: Faithfulness Passage: Mark 10:13–10:31

This week James Talbert, Lead Pastor at Citizens Akron, teaches from Mark 10 verses 13 through 31. Jesus teaches two lessons in this passage - that children should be brought to the feet of Jesus and that a rich young ruler will find it difficult to get into heaven because his identity is in his treasure. The posture of children models an undying faith that leads to following Jesus, while the rich young ruler is trying to maintain a dual citizenship with one foot in the world and one in heaven. We must find our full identity in Jesus, not in a worldly identity defined by our stuff.
