"We give our lives to what outlives us."

Brannon Vision Video

Advance Commitment Event

Sunday, April 26th | 6-8pm

North Canton YMCA

As a key part of the Build Family Initiative, we’ll glance backward over our shoulder, thanking God for His past faithfulness. We’ll also look forward, asking God for His future provision. This Advanced Commitment event will be a time of worship, word, and above all, prayer.

This will also be an opportunity for those who are ready to make financial commitments to the Build Family Initiative to anonymously solidify those commitments in person. You’ve been praying over your cards, seeking God’s direction for your participation as we move forward. This event is your first opportunity turn those cards in, as we continue to commit our plans to God’s purposes.

Build Family Stories

Our Why:

A Lasting Legacy of Faith

We believe God wants NCC to be a church that children and students are excited to be a part of. Since 2021, NCC’s Family Ministry has grown 68%, serving an average of nearly 300 children, students, and volunteers every weekend. We’ve seen more and more young families choose to call NCC home. This is something to celebrate!

Generational Generosity

We believe it’s every generation’s responsibility—at the height of their influence—to give the best of themselves to those who’ll follow. In the last 5 years, we’ve invested over $1M upgrading crucial ministry spaces in our sanctuary and physical plant. Our Family Ministry area remains in need of significant facility improvements to handle recent growth. We’re excited to embark on a project that will bless generations at NCC far into the future.

Kingdom Conversations

We believe the church should be a voice for its community. In the past few years, we’ve seen God bless us as we host meaningful conversations that call us deeper in mission. From prayer gatherings to training events for our ministry partners, we want NCC to continue to host ministry initiatives that impact North Canton, Stark County, and the world.

Jesus told us:

“Don’t push these children away.

Don’t ever get between them and me.

These children

are at the very center of life in the kingdom. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”

Mark 10:13-14 (MSG)

Our Goal:

To provide a safe, welcoming, and accessible space that fosters connection, supports family ministry, and serves as a multi-generational hub for our community. With intuitive design, clear entry points, and engaging areas for all ages, we aim to build an environment that empowers families and volunteers for lasting spiritual growth locally and throughout the world.

How will we get there?

Three things need to happen:

1. A Season of Focused Prayer

Nothing meaningful happens ever without prayer. Before we ever talk about giving, we’re asking everyone who calls NCC home to devote intentional prayer for the following:

  • Pray that the children of our church and community will know the love of God.
  • Pray that our middle and high school students will live lives of radical devotion to Jesus.
  • Pray that our ministry partners—both local and global—will continue to serve well.

Generosity initiatives are not simply about dollars. They are opportunities to stretch our faith. As you pray, ask God how He might be inviting you to participate.

  • Does my life reflect dependence on God in all things?
  • Am I taking bold risks for God, or am I staying too close to my comfort zone?
  • How is God inviting me to grow in generosity as an expression of trust in His provision?
2. Raise $5 Million in 2 Years

EXPAND & RENOVATE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AREA | $2.2M

We want families to feel welcome at NCC! Our design will provide wider hallways for easier navigation, larger classrooms to accommodate growth, more restrooms to better serve weekend traffic, updated room furnishings, and larger atriums for a more hospitable space.

EXPAND & RENOVATE STUDENT MINISTRY SPACE | $2.2M

Our Student Ministry area will expand into a multi-generational hub: serving NCC Students on Sunday mornings, throughout the week, and also accommodating large group meetings. We also will add spaces for conversations, a larger stage, an expanded kitchen and a more inviting entryway.

STRATEGIC GENEROSTY TO MINISTRY PARTNERS | $500K

We are blessed to be a blessing! 10% of gifts that come into NCC during the Build Family Initiative will go to fund ministry efforts through our ministry partners in Stark County and around the world.

FUTURE-FUND FIVE COMMUNITY EVENTS | $100K

We’ve identified five crucial conversations that we believe God’s asking our church to host: Foster Care, Marriage, Parenting / Grandparenting, Mental Health, and Financial Literacy. Our new space will mobilize NCC for meaningful mission in North Canton and Stark County.

3. "All In!"

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. We’re excited to see this season energize us as a church family. We believe God is inviting all of us into a season of increased generosity and deeper relationship with Him. Together, we can build family!

Build Family Gift Chart

Build Family will run from May of 2026 through May of 2028.

Your two-year commitment can be made with whatever giving rhythms work best for you (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc). We also suggest exploring the possibility of giving from your stored resources (savings, stock, property, or other assets).

As you consider how God is inviting you to give, consider a one-time gift or monthly giving. We invite you to be part of this important season at The North Canton Chapel as we make much of Jesus every day to everyone!

Frequently Asked Questions

We often say that ‘clarity is kindness.’ To help provide clarity surrounding the Build Family Initiative, we have spent months conducting feasibility studies, gathering information from our family ministry team, meeting with architects, and financial consultants. This time has resulted in the FAQ document below. If you have further questions after review, we’d welcome a conversation with you!

The Vision

Why are we doing the Build Family Initiative?

A build initiative allows our church family to come together in faith to fund a God-inspired vision that advances our mission. This initiative isn’t just about buildings. Instead, it’s about creating spaces and resources that help us reach more people, deepen discipleship, and serve our greater community for years to come.

What is the goal of the initiative?

Our goal is to raise $5 million over 24-month/2-years to provide a safe, welcoming, and accessible space that fosters connection, supports family ministry, and serves as a multi-generational hub for our community. This goal reflects both the prayerful discernment and the practical planning of our church’s leadership.

How does this initiative align with our church’s current vision and mission?

Every dollar raised is an investment in our goal to ‘give our lives to what outlives us.’ This initiative enables us to live that mission more fully and fruitfully.

Isn’t this just about money?

Absolutely not! Matthew 6:21 reminds us, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” As a church, our deepest concern is for your heart. This initiative is first and foremost a spiritual journey. It is an invitation to grow in faith, obedience, and trust. It’s an opportunity for our entire church family to lean into God’s provision, deepen our dependence on Him, and experience the joy of generosity together.

The Process

How will initiative funds be managed?

All gifts will be tracked separately and used exclusively for the initiative’s designated purposes. Oversight will come from both church leadership and trusted advisors, ensuring transparency and integrity.

What happens if we raise more (or less) than our goal?

If we exceed our goal, the extra funds will be applied to additional priorities aligned with the initiative’s vision (God has given us an abundance of Kingdom vision). In the unlikely event we raise less that our goal, our leadership will reassess priorities and adjust the scope of the project reasonably and responsibly.

Are we going to take on debt to fund this project?

We are committed to spending no more than what is pledged and will not take on long term debt like a mortgage or bonds. To manage and balance the cash flow and timing of contributions coming in versus construction expenses going out, we anticipate establishing a line of credit that would be paid off in a timely manner. This is a more cost-effective way to manage the construction schedule rather than waiting until we have received all the contributions or, alternatively, facing disruptions to construction as contributions come in.

Will there be updates to the congregation regarding funding and construction?

Yes—regular updates will be shared to keep everyone informed and encouraged. We’ll provide regular financial progress reports along with key construction milestones, and we’ll share more frequent highlights as meaningful progress happens. Along the way, we’ll continue celebrating stories of how God is working through Build Family to keep the focus on people and mission, not just the project itself.

When does the initiative officially begin and end?

The campaign will begin on April 12, 2026 and conclude on May 10, 2026, though the spiritual and community impact will continue far beyond that timeframe.

When will we begin construction and how long will it take?

We have an immediate need to relieve the overcrowding in our family ministry areas, so ideally construction will begin as soon as possible; perhaps as early as fall 2026. The actual start date will be determined by how soon God’s people convert their pledges into cash contributions.  Once construction begins, we expect it to take approximately 1 ½ years.

How will we prioritize construction phases?

We anticipate completing the project in two primary phases: the Children’s Area and the Student Center.

Construction phasing will ultimately be determined by the sequencing and requirements of the project. As plans are finalized, that timeline will guide the order in which spaces are addressed.

That said, our goal is to remain as functional as possible throughout construction by focusing on one ministry area at a time—either Children’s or Student Ministry—rather than disrupting both simultaneously. As each phase begins, the impacted ministry will temporarily relocate to other areas of the building. We will communicate clearly and consistently so families and students know exactly where to go and what to expect each week.

Where will the children and students go during construction?

This will be a complicated “dance” that will require the cooperation and support of the entire congregation. The specific details of this will be worked out over the coming months, but we are planning around these considerations: 1) the construction will be phased to different areas at different times to minimize the impact; 2) for the safety, security and convenience of the children and their families we intend to keep them within our building.

The How

What should I do to prepare my heart for the initiative?

Begin with prayer. Spend time regularly talking with God about your involvement in this initiative. Ask Him to guide your heart and reveal His will for your participation. Take time to reflect on how God has blessed you and how you might use those blessings to make a difference for others through this initiative. A sincere, ongoing conversation with God is the best way to prepare your heart.

How can I pray for this initiative?

Pray for unity, faith, and generosity. Ask God to provide for His work through His people, and that our church would be a shining example of what it means to trust Him fully.

Are we expected to give a specific amount?

No. The initiative invites every person to seek God’s guidance and give according to God’s leading and their ability and faith. What matters most is participation. It’s not about equal gifts but instead, Christ-led sacrifice.

What if I’m unable to give much right now?

Your involvement is what matters most. We encourage you to give according to God’s leading. Listen for what God is leading you to do and, when you hear from Him, just say yes!

How long do we have to fulfill our pledges?

Typically, initiative commitments are fulfilled over a 24-month or 2-year period, allowing flexibility and intentionality in your giving.

Can I give non-cash gifts (stocks, property, etc.)?

Yes. The church can receive a variety of gifts. Please contact the church office for guidance on how to contribute in ways that make the most sense for you.

Will regular ministry giving still be needed?

Absolutely. Our regular giving remains the foundation of everything we do as a church. It supports the ministries, missions, and daily operations that fulfill God’s ongoing call for us. This generosity initiative is a step beyond; it is an opportunity to give above and beyond our regular giving as we trust God for a greater vision. Your continued faithful giving ensures that the vital work of our church continues even as we move forward together in this special season of growth.
