The war in Ukraine has taken homes, livelihoods, and peace from millions of people, yet in the midst of the devastation, the church has stepped forward to serve with compassion and share the hope of the gospel. From the beginning of the invasion, ABWE missionaries partnered with national churches—particularly in Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland—to help transport, shelter, feed, and care for the spiritual needs of those fleeing the country. 

Together, they have provided more than 60,000 meals and other forms of aid, assisted over 25,000 refugees, shared the gospel with thousands, and distributed more than 3,500 Bibles and tracts. Even as Ukraine continues to face air attacks and power outages, ABWE missionaries remain faithfully serving alongside local believers, bringing practical help and gospel hope to communities across the country, including towns near the front lines in the east and south.
